My Pastor: Pamela Sheppard
There are people in life who leave an impression. And then there are people who change the course of your life entirely. My Pastor was one of those people. She was not just a teacher. She was not someone who spoke about faith from a distance. She lived it—fully, deeply, and with conviction—no matter what adversity she was experiencing. She believed in the death and physical return of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Not as an idea, but as truth. She would speak about the promises in Scripture—about resurrection, about life beyond the grave, and about the victory that belongs to those who remain in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
What stood out to me most was this:
She went through difficulty and wanted to see the wisdom, insights, revelations that the Lord gave her about deception, false doctrines, and evil spirits pretending to be Jesus. She did not let any difficulty she went through, scare her. There was a peace in her that was extremely powerful and calming. This is because of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. She understood that the power of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, including his birth in human form, death, and physical resurrection; all this is the weapon necessary when facing the attempts of spiritual warfare to try to cause problems. She is still my hero. Just as the book of Revelation says, there will be a physical resurrection. That when the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth returns, those who belong to Him will physically rise again. She preached all this in entirety. When she preached, she did not preach a watered down gospel. She emphasized that the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, was actually physically alive and still alive today. Her love was unlike anything I had experienced before.
It was:
Unconditional
Forgiving
Patient
Understanding
Persistent and Consistent
Always loyal and faithful in the Lord
She was self-less
Kinder than anyone I’ve met before
Committed in her work for the Lord
She continued to give as much as she could have, no matter those who doubted her. She taught about being able to understand and see that people make mistakes. That faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and walking in line as the Holy Ghost intervenes, causes perfect alignment with the Lord. Those who are strong in faith, those who are committed and grounded, can still be deceived. Yet she was wise enough in the Lord, to learn from certain forms of deception. She then taught about that deception. Honesty was one of her biggest strengths and made her Pastoral guidance extremely essential. That has stayed with me. When I think of her now, I do not just think of someone who taught. I think of someone who is passionate, compassionate, full of life, bold, joyful, and a great influence in every way. She exemplified what Godly love is about. Not expecting anything in return. Very understanding, regardless of attempted problems around. Her life was productive, fruitful, and an example of how change truly comes from the Lord.
What she planted continues.
